"Tammy's Scrapin Corner" Challenge #8

WEEKLY CHALLENGE #8
THIS WEEK'S THEME IS ANYTHING GOES
The challenge will end on Sunday 5-6-12 and the winner and the Top 3 will be chosen at random.
Our Wonderful Prize is a Gift Certificate for $10.00.
Tammy's Scrapin Corner  is looking for Designers to join our Design Team and showcase your inspirations for our Challenges.  If you are interested please e-mail Tammy here, list your blog and include a creation.
Now it's your turn to head on over to Tammy's Scrapin Corner and enter your "Anything Goes" creation to Mr. Linky.

Here is my Inspirational Card for the Challenge
I followed a sketch from Kimbee's Creations.  Usually I am not good with sketches, as I tend to stray away from the sketch but this time I stuck to it pretty well.  I love this image from Krista Smith of Saturated Canary and it is one of my favorites.  I added handmade flowers, a flourish of small leaves, a birthday sentiment, brads and gems.
On the inside of my card I stayed with the red/white gingham papers and added a sentiment.  I distressed all the images and sentiments with distress inks.  Again I added more homemade flowers and brads.  I had to make my own because I have no "red" flowers at all, just an excuse to go shopping....

"LuLu and Friends"

By now everyone who follows my blog should know how much I love my long lost sister, "Sassy Cheryl".  I just cannot get enough of her designs.  Which by the way, some of her newest "digi's" are included in her
$2.00 sale but hurry over because the newbie's will only go for that price until midnight Sunday.  You can find all her newest designs and her $2.00 bin at Sassy Cheryl's Digi Designs

However, although my card today is a Sassy Cheryl Design it is a rubber stamp package called "Lulu and Friends" which I purchased from Kraftin Kimmie Stamps.  The package comes with three different designs of Lulu and friends and also includes sentiments.  So my image and sentiment for my card are all from this one package and I love it. I used Copics to color her and added some sparkle to the umbrella and puddles of rain. I used Memento Ink to distress around the image.  I have to apologize for the colors in my card.  I am not sure why the computer or at least mine changes my colors but the darkest colors are actually a dark pink, they kinda look reddish to me in the picture.  I added a double flourish and self made flowers to my design along with a bow, charm and simple stick pin just to "spotlight" the yellow in my card.
The inside was left somewhat plain, again using my flowers and including a personal message space.  I used the Memento Ink to distress the edges of the personal sentiment area. This is the real color of the pinks and again I apologize for the pictures.  So there you go and don't forget to head on over to the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog where the challenge this week is "April Showers".

Top 3 Win

They say things, good or bad, happen in three's and it does seem that way.  On Friday a wonderful thing happened to me as my card "April Showers" was picked as a Top 3 winner at the Cardmadfairy's Digi Days Challenge for last week's "April Showers Challenge".  Normally, I do not post these wins but I decided to do so today since this was my "third" good news of the weekend.  My first and second were the Designer Spots at Tammy's Scrappin Corner and at Whimsy's .  I won the award for my "April Showers" card which was a Sassy Cheryl Design.  You can view my card below.  Thank you so much everyone at Cardmadfairy's Digi Days Challenges for selecting my card as one of your Top 3 for the week.

Liebster Blog Award

Hi everyone...On March 28, 2012 I was a lucky sassy gal to have won a second Liebster Blog Award from Tammy Ortiz of Tammy's Scrappin Blog.  I had previously won the Award from Jo of A Little Piece of Me and again thank you Jo.  However, of the 5 people I chose to receive the award from me, only one of them responded to the award.
Therefore, I am going to try again.  I want to thank Tammy so much for thinking of me and my blog for this award.  I really took my time in deciding who I wanted to pass this award to.  Receiving this award from Jo and Tammy has resulted in two wonderful friendships that I cherish because not only are they great crafters but they are both very dear to my heart.

For those who do not know of the Liebster Blog Award here is some info:

The Liebster Award is given to inspirational blogs with less than 200 followers.  Liebster is a German word meaning dearest or favorite and the tradition is that I would pass on the award to 5 other blogs that have encouraged, inspired and motivated me.

To accept the award here's what you need to do:
  • Thank the person who gave you the award on your blog
  • Link back to their blog on your blog
  • Post the award to your blog
  • Pass on the award to 5 of your most valued blogs (less than 200 followers)
  • Leave a comment on those 5 blogs to let them know
Here are the 5 blogs I chose for the award.  They are all wonderful, talented crafter's and I love their blogs.  So in no special order here they are:
So there you have it.  I would love if you would accept this award but if you choose not to that is fine also.  Good luck to all of you with the challenges and your blog ventures.  And to Tammy I again thank you for this award and please know that I truly cherish the friendship we have now.

Daisy Pitcher

Hi everyone, I finally got in the craft room and made a card today.  I have been on Pin-interest and it is so addictive.  My friend Tammy got me into it and now that's all I want to do, lol.  But I finally turned the computer off and got busy.  So today I used a cute image again by Meljen Designs, "Daisy Pitcher" and I distressed the edges of the image.  I love it....I received some new dies and punches this week and these flowers are made from the die.  It is a wonderful die from Lifestyle Crafts, "Bloom".  There are 5 different sizes in the set and they are so nice to use.  I then used a punch for the small middles of the flowers before I added the brads.  The picture does not do it justice as the pinks are so much prettier when you see them.
The inside of my card continues with the same design and more flowers.  I used a stylus to help the flowers curl somewhat but of course when you close the card it flattens them again.  I did the same on the front.  The sentiment is from Whimsy's, "Flowers in Bloom" Sentiments.  Both the sentiment and personal message area were distressed with pink ink on the edges.

Today I received the "candy" package I won from Janiel Conley.  It was wonderful and I thank Janiel so much.  Everything is so pretty, the flowers are great and the papers in the pack are yummy.  I did not have the two Copic Markers so I always love to add to mine.   I can't wait to start using everything.  Here is a picture of what I won:
Be sure to check out Janiel's new May Candy on my sidebar.  Just click it and go sign up.  Again Thank You so much Janiel.

Cubbin Around

It's Monday and time for a new challenge at Tammy's Scrapin Corner.  The Challenge this week is "Anything Goes with a Critter".  I was lucky to be asked by Tammy to be a Guest Designer along with Leslie Turner of  Love To Scrap.  For my card I chose an image from Meljen's Designs called "Cubbin Around".  It is such a sweet design and I distressed my image and sentiment which is from Kimberly at Kimbee's Creations. I then matted them on black card stock. My embossed charm is from Making Memories, I received it in the "candy package" I won from Rina at Scrapbook Fashionista.  Here is a close-up picture of the charm.
Thank you again Rina.... Don't forget to stop over at Tammy's Blog and get your card in for the new "Critter" Challenge.

Flowers

Hey my crafting friends.  My card today is really something different for me.  I made it for a neighbor of mine who is 92 years young.  She lives by herself, is a widow and her children all live in other cities.  So I always try to check on her everyday.  She has a hard time seeing now and I wanted to make a card for her to cheer her up some.  She complains all the time about not being able to see pictures so I made my card a larger size and really went colorful.  I started out trying to go by the challenge at Fetch-a-Sketch, turning it around and really embellishing it.  So although I am going to submit it in their challenge they may delete it. lol
And here is my card...
I used some small flower images from Pink Petticoat called "Pretty Potties".  Added the embellishments, a bow, flowers and gems.  The die cuts were done with my Spellbinder Dies.  All my cardstock is from my stash as well are the embellishments.  I did not take a picture of the inside because I left it fairly plain.  I know she will enjoy looking at this because of the bright pinks.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy your weekend.

Butterfly Ladybug

You know what I love the most about Sassy Cheryl's Designs...They allow me to go crazy with my cards. I just feel so good coloring her designs and then designing my card around her images.  I love bright colors and I really put them to use with her designs.  If you are not familiar with Sassy Cheryl you can go and see for yourself how cute her designs are.  You can find her store here

Now that I have told you about Sassy Cheryl let me tell you how crazy I really am.  For some reason I thought the Sassy Cheryl Challenge for this week was "Ladybugs".  I must have dreamed it...So I thought, "Oh great I know exactly what I will do".  I chose my image and then went to town decorating my card.  Well, after I was finished I went back to check the challenge to see what others had posted and low and behold to my horror the challenge is for "Butterflies".  Did you hear me....Butterflies...OMG... After I panicked for a few seconds I thought "Oh no I shall overcome this"...lol  So I removed one of my flowers and added a beautiful butterfly thus the name of my card, "Butterfly Ladybug".

I know this is fairly long so I will cut it short...All my embellishments are from my stash, the image is "Mother's Day Flower" from Sassy Cheryl and is colored with Copics.  The sentiment is from C.C. Designs.  Papers are also from my stash.
I always try to finish my cards so I will have them ready in case I need to send one.  I used my Spellbinder Dies to cut everything out and stayed with the same papers as the front of my card.  The sentiment on the inside is from Whimsy's, Flowers in Bloom Set.

Friends Forever

I used an image from Mo Manning's Digital Pencils called "Brother's".  The Bronte and Bella Challenge over at Mo's this week is "Spots".  So I followed a sketch from the Sketch Saturday Challenge only adding some buttons to it.  The papers are all pieces left over from other cards in my stash as are the buttons.  I used my Copic Sketch Markers to color my image and the sentiment is from Whimsys, "Funny Friends" set.  I used my Zig 0.5mm Writer to add faux stitching.  My Spellbinder Oval and Circle Dies were used to cut out the image and sentiment.
I continued with the same pattern on the inside of my card and left it fairly simple.  I did add the faux stitching with my marker and the Spellbinder Circle Dies for the image and personal message.  The inside sentiment is again from the same Whimsys package.
I am entering my card in the following challenges:
Thank you for stopping by today and happy crafting to everyone...

Pipi Petal Sprite

I have a new card to show off today and a new image for me.  Her name is "Pipi" and she is a "Petal Sprite" from Make It Crafty.  I loved the image when I saw it, so I colored her exactly like the image was on the Make It Crafty website.  Of course, I used my Copics to color her.  I followed the Guylou's Inimitabilty Sketch Challenge which you can see below.  In my picture on my computer you really cannot designate the two different colors but there is a dark blue on the left side, my green/white polka dot ribbon, then my dark aqua green.  I took many pictures and still could not get it to show up like I wanted it to.  My sentiment is from TLCreations.  I used my Cheery Lynn Circle Dies to cut out my image, the ribbon, roses and pearls are from my stash.
Here is another view of my image colored with my Copics.  I failed to mention that I used Crystal Stickles on her little dress and the flowers.
On the inside as I normally do, I stayed with the main papers which were all from my stash and cut my flowers out with my C.C. Designs, Five Point Flower Die, (I have others ordered, lol).  I added brads from my stash to the flowers and on the upper half I used my Spellbinder Scallop Die to cut out the mat for the sentiment which is from Ginger House.
I would like to enter my card in the following challenges:
Thanks for stopping by today and hope you have a wonderful week ahead.

April Showers

Hi Everyone...I think we are going to get some of these April Showers today...But hope wherever you are you are safe from the weather.  Yesterday was a rough day in some states from what I see on the news.  So Sassy Cheryl's Challenge is coming up and there are many more challenges asking for April Showers and that is exactly what my card today is.  This is an image called "April Shower" from Sassy Cheryl and I used Copics to color the image.  My card stock and papers are a bright yellow gold and a deep orange.  I added some flowers, bumble bees and hearts on the image.  The ribbon for my bow and the button in the middle were all from my stash as were all my papers.  The sentiment is from Tracy over at BrossArt Addiction.
I continued with the same theme on the inside of my card  using a sentiment that I cannot recall where I found.  I used my C.C. Designs Die for the Five Point Flowers and red and yellow brads for the centers.  I added a happy sunshine and down at the bottom far right those are a ladybug family crawling along.
Thanks for stopping by today.

Honey

Hello blogger friends...Not too long ago my youngest son, who is in the Marines and has returned from Afghanistan within the last 6 months, took me for dinner at Ruby Tuesdays.  We started noticing young kids coming in all dressed up and we overheard someone say it was Prom that night.  I saw all the prom dresses and noticed they were mostly short this year.  And the skirts of the dresses were made out of tulle and an underlay of rayon, with sequins or glitter on them.  The colors were wonderful.  I saw one girl who's dress was a mixture of yellow and pink.  It was beautiful, full of sparkle.  I remembered seeing a design from Krista Smith with Saturated Canary that reminded me so much of this young girls dress.  This is the image, called "Honey" and I have colored it to the best of my ability as I saw it that night in the restaurant.  Funny thing was, there was another girl there and her dress was tulle in the pattern of camouflage.  Plus she had on sand colored military boots.  My son loved that one...Well, now you know the inspiration behind my card for today.
I followed the sketch from the Willow Sketchie Challenge (see below) and used Copics to color her.  The challenge was a sketch plus spots and dots.  I used Ranger Stardust Stickles on her skirt and boots.  It is hard to see my stripes as the strip is under the image and then the flower covers most of it.  I cut the flowers out with my C.C. Design Die, Five Point Flower and added small brads for the middles.  All the papers are from my stash.
I finished the inside of my card with the same papers and die cut flowers.  I cut out my sentiment, which is from Ginger House, with my Spellbinder Dies
I am entering my card in the following challenges:
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read my story...lol  Have a great day...
